German suspected of high treason for passing on information to Russia | Abroad

A German has been arrested at Munich airport on suspicion of high treason. Justice suspects that he has colluded with an employee of the German intelligence service BND. According to them, sensitive information was passed on to Russia during this contact.

Arthur E. was arrested on Sunday when he arrived in Germany from the United States. The man would be known to Carsten L., an employee of BND. He was arrested in December on suspicion of spying for Russia.

According to the prosecutors, E. passed on information from double agent L. to the Russian intelligence service. An arrest warrant was already pending against E. Germany’s highest criminal court had ruled that he should be taken into custody.

The FBI has helped investigate E.
