German right-wing extremists hunt migrants from the east

The German police have put an end to an action by German right-wing extremists on the Polish border. Last night they were armed with pepper spray, knives and batons in search of migrants to prevent them from entering Germany.

At the German border town of Guben, southeast of Berlin, fifty right-wing extremists were disarmed and sent away. They had heeded a call from the far-right Der Dritte Weg party, which is said to have links with neo-Nazi groups, to stop migrants from the east.

Guben, in Polish Gubin, is located on the German-Polish border on either side of the Neisse River. The west bank is German, the east bank is Polish.
