“Michael Jackson Musical” is coming to Hamburg in autumn 2024

The “Michael Jackson Musical” has been delighting fans on Broadway in New York since the beginning of 2022. Next year, the show about the “King of Pop” will celebrate its German premiere at the Theater an der Elbe.

Hamburg. Almost a million tickets have already been sold on New York’s Broadway: The “Michael Jackson Musical” will celebrate its German premiere in Hamburg’s Stage Theater an der Elbe in late autumn 2024. The musical company Stage Entertainment announced this on Tuesday in Hamburg.

“Around the genesis of the 1992 “Dangerous” world tour, MJ – The Michael Jackson Musical shows some of the most popular and best-selling songs in music history and goes beyond the star’s unique moves and unmistakable sound,” it said.

The musical, which premiered on Broadway in February 2022, has already won four Tony Awards and the album received a Grammy nomination. The book was written by Lynn Nottage, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, and the stage design was developed by Derek McLane. The castings for the musical began on Tuesday. For the German production, Michael Jackson’s songs will remain in the original English, while the dialogue will be translated into German. The musical will premiere in London’s Westend on March 6, 2024.

Stage Entertainment is presenting a total of four musicals in Hamburg: The “Michael Jackson Musical” will replace the Disney musical “Frozen,” which can be seen until September 29, 2024. In addition to the long-running hit “The Lion King” in the harbor, the Abba musical “Mamma Mia!” is also running in the Neue Flora Theater and the musical “Hamilton” is running in the Operettenhaus until autumn.
