The activists are linked to the “Last Generation” movement, which has held recall actions in Germany and elsewhere in Europe in recent months, seizing famous works of art and blocking the work of airports.
The police searched 11 addresses. The investigation is linked to protests by activists in April when they cut off fuel supplies to pipelines affecting the company’s PCK oil refinery in Švete and other facilities.
“Last Generation” press representative Karla Hinrich confirmed on Twitter that searches took place, including in her apartment.
Police seized laptops, mobile phones and posters, “Pædėjja audze” revealed.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in November that the protesters’ actions, such as the blockade of Berlin airport, were not only incomprehensible but also very dangerous.
He added that even he doesn’t see how ripping up artwork would help the climate.
“The people involved should consider other activities,” the chancellor said, adding that hardly anyone supports the ongoing actions in Germany.
