German police pulled a drunk driver off the road three times in 24 hours. The man has lost his driver’s license and his car and has to pay a hefty deposit.
The 61-year-old driver was stopped for the first time yesterday morning around 2 am on the border between the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. As it turned out that he had been drinking too much, the officers prohibited the man from continuing to drive.
Two hours later, near the town of Montabaur, it was discovered that he had not respected that order. An alcohol test showed that she had a blood alcohol level of 1.6, more than three times the allowable value.
Taken to the motel
His license was taken away and his car key was confiscated this time to prevent recidivism. The agents took the man to a motel to put his drunkenness to sleep.
Around noon, the agents met the man again on the freeway. “They couldn’t believe their eyes,” a spokesperson said in a press release. Once again the man was stopped, once again he turned out to be too drunk to drive.
Police said the man took a taxi from the motel to his locked car and asked a friend to bring a spare key. Due to the danger to traffic and its lack of awareness of injustice his car has now been seized for destruction. The man also had to pay a deposit of 2000 euros.
