LEER – On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the German police carried out checks on the German A31 and around 2:32 p.m. a Dutch truck combination was also checked at the “Rheiderland” parking lot.
The truck and trailer was loaded with metal scrap and showed signs of possible overloading during the preliminary inspection. The subsequent weighing of the combination revealed an unusual situation. Although the calibrated weighbridges used were designed for a total weight of 50 tons, the scales did not provide any results for this combination.
It was therefore necessary to place the truck and trailer separately on the weighbridge. It was determined that the combination had exceeded the permitted 40 tons by more than 40 percent and had a total weight of 56,040 kilograms, German police reported on Wednesday.
Under these circumstances, the combination was not allowed to continue the journey and the driver had to unload one of the loaded containers.
The police have started a fine procedure that not only the driver but also the person responsible for the transport company will have to deal with.
