A German man has been officially identified as a suspect in the case of the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann nearly 15 years ago in Portugal. The Portuguese Public Prosecution Service has announced that the German authorities have done so at the request of the Public Prosecution Service in Portugal. Now that this has happened, the man could be extradited for questioning in Portugal.
It is the first time since 2007 that an official suspect has been identified. At the time, Maddie McCann’s parents were seen as suspects, but their names were later cleared. The identity of the German has not been released. His lawyer informs international media that he has not currently been charged for the girl’s disappearance.
