German Lawyers’ Association Criticizes Insufficient Design of Childcare Financing Compensation

(Berlin) – Today, Monday, September 18th (3:00 p.m.), a public hearing on the financing of childcare associations will take place before the Legal Affairs Committee in the German Bundestag. The German Lawyers’ Association (DAV) is represented by lawyer Trude. The DAV welcomes the planned inflation compensation, but criticizes that its design is not sufficient.

“The planned inflation compensation for professional and voluntary carers is an important step. The innovations in care law that have been in force since January mean that many professional carers have a significantly increased, sometimes doubled, time commitment. This is due to the obligation to comply with the wishes of those being cared for Person and the increased bureaucratic effort. In addition, the significant increase in operating expenses in recent years also leads to an ever lower income. This cannot be compensated for by adjusting for inflation. This does not offset the decline in the number of carers, nor can the professional field In this way, it can be made more attractive for new interested parties.

The future planned evaluation and adjustment of the remuneration system would be an actual help. However, this comes too late – an increase in remuneration is already needed in addition to the inflation compensation payment.”
