German justice does not rule out that the stabbing in Solingen, West Germany, on Friday evening was a terrorist act. Investigators currently see no other motive than terror, a chief prosecutor said at a press conference about the incident. Police are still looking for the perpetrator, whose identity is unknown.
Investigation shows that the perpetrator deliberately aimed his knife at the necks of his victims. Earlier, the police had already spoken of an attack during a public party in the city, in which three people were killed. Eight people were injured. Five of them are in serious condition. The suspected weapon has since been found in a garbage can, according to detectives.
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Saturday morning in the investigation into the fatal incident. He is said to have known about the attack. According to witnesses in German media, the perpetrator was a man between 20 and 30 years old with a beard.
Following the fatal knife attack, police operations are underway across Germany. Police are talking about “extensive searches and investigative measures.”
