Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler, Severin Freund and Pius Paschke led at home in Oberstdorf after the first round and defended the gold in the final. The Austrians beat by 11.1 points and won the title on the big bridge for the fourth time in history. Third Poland lost 15.4 points.

Twenty-eight-year-old Geiger won four precious metals at the championship. With today’s triumph, he followed up on the gold from the mixed team competition, in which Eisenbichler also rejoiced, taking silver on the middle and bronze on the big bridge in individual races.

Until the last series of attempts, the Japanese bronze advocates held the hope of a medal, but in the end they took fourth place. Norway, which had to do without World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud due to a positive coronavirus test, finished sixth.

Of the Czech jumpers, Kožíšek performed the longest attempt in the last series in the first round, recording 107.5 meters. Štursa started the race with a jump of 102.5 meters, but their teammates did not cross the 100-meter limit. Polášek jumped 99 meters, Sakala by four less.

“We did not succeed in the team competition. It is a disappointment, no one jumped their average and we did not show what we have,” said coach František Vaculík.

The longest attempt of the opening round was recorded by the Japanese Yukija Sató, who jumped 141 meters. In the final, the Pole Piotr Žyla flew the farthest (139 m).
