German hockey players will be strengthened by Kahun at the World Cup, Draisaitl will not come

The German hockey players will be strengthened at the World Cup by forward striker Dominik Kahun from Edmonton, who was eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Oilers star Leon Draisaitl, on the other hand, will not arrive in Riga. The German union announced it today.

Twenty-five-year-old Kahun, who has not played in Edmonton’s last two games, is scheduled to arrive in Riga on Wednesday. Then a six-day quarantine awaits him. After that, he could intervene in the last match in the basic group B, which the Germans lead after three duels without losing a point. He will end it on June 1 with a match with the home team Latvia.

“With his speed, technical skills and NHL experience, he can be a great asset to us,” said German team coach Toni Söderholm. “The decisive thing was that he was able to go quickly. It was not possible with Leon so quickly, so we agreed that he would not arrive,” the coach added.

Kahun, who helped the German team win silver medals at the 2018 Olympics in Pyongyang, will perform at the 5th World Cup.
