Berlin () – The federal government wants to support the development of private charging infrastructure from the end of September with a new funding program. The program for self-generation and use of solar power for electric vehicles in residential buildings is scheduled to start on September 26, the Federal Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday.
Owners of owner-occupied residential buildings should therefore be able to apply to KfW for an investment subsidy of up to 10,200 euros for a charging station in connection with a photovoltaic system and battery storage. The prerequisite is that “an own electric car is available or has been bindingly ordered”. The subsidy is made up of “performance-dependent lump sums” for the photovoltaic system and the battery storage as well as “fixed lump sums” for the charging station. A volume of up to 500 million euros is to be made available for the new programme.
Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) described the plans as a “significant step” towards a “sustainable and secure energy supply”. By charging in your own residential building, you reduce the need for public charging and enable citizens to “save energy costs and at the same time make a contribution to climate protection”.
