German Girls Bavaria eV Donates 3,700.00 Euros to Elisabeth Hospice in Ingolstadt for Eighth Year in a Row

At the Elisabeth Hospice in Ingolstadt, seriously ill people and their relatives are supported sensitively and humanely on their final journey. In order to be able to fulfill this important task, the hospice relies on donations, as not all costs can be covered by health insurance companies.

A considerable donation of 3,700.00 euros has now been made by representatives of the German Girls Bavaria e. V. from Nandlstadt in the hospice was handed over to the first chairman of the hospice association, Jakob Schäuble. The association was able to donate money to the Elisabeth Hospice for the eighth year in a row, with a total of over 10,000 euros raised.

The money was earned by members of the small association, which only has 17 members, through hard work over the past year. The members knitted, crocheted and made crafts and sold the products at the Christmas market in Hohenthann and, last but not least, every day for a full month at the Christmas market in Pfaffenhofen ad Ilm. The open day and the annual charity barbecue were also a complete success. There were also several cash donations from the WUM shop in Mainburg, from Schricker-Kolenda, the school for people, horses and dogs, from the Mainburg motorcycle club and from private individuals.

The Elisabeth Hospice can use the donated funds to make urgently needed improvements that will benefit the guests and their relatives. Due to storm damage, some trees had to be felled in the garden, and the increased solar radiation in the guest rooms due to the loss of tree shade must now be reduced by awnings. The bathrooms in the guest rooms must be equipped with individually adjustable heaters; currently the temperature can only be regulated centrally and the doors in the guest rooms must be adapted to the latest fire protection regulations. The garden should also be embellished with an arbor to sit and relax and new benches, as many guests would like to be outdoors but protected from wind or sun.

At today’s donation handover, not only money was handed over, the members of German Girls Bavaria eV also had other things with them: heart-shaped memorial stones for the Garden of Remembrance and crocheted butterflies that are intended in pairs for the guests and their relatives.

When handing over the donation, Jakob Schäuble from the hospice association was visibly overwhelmed by the large sum raised by German Girls Bavaria e. V. had come together.

One of the reasons for the high level of commitment of the association and especially its first chairwoman and founder Angela Hering is her own cancer, which she had at the age of just 25.

At the time, she felt left alone with the diagnosis and the illness and decided to help improve the situation of seriously ill patients as best she could and founded a club in 2016, which then became a registered non-profit organization in 2017.
