Zelenksyy calls Russia ‘terrorist state’
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated a demand that Russia be recognized as a “terrorist state” after a missile attack in the city of Vinnytsia killed 23 people.
“Today proved once again that Russia should be officially recognized as a terrorist state,” Zelenskyy said.
“No other country in the world allows itself to destroy peaceful cities and ordinary human life with cruise missiles and rocket artillery on a daily basis,” he added.

Zelenskyy underlined that the death toll from the attack in Vinnytsia could rise. “Debris clearance is ongoing. Dozens of people are declared missing. The seriously injured are among those being treated in hospital,” he said.
Baerbock: Germany refuses to lift Russia sanctions
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock ruled out easing sanctions against Moscow while talking to residents in Bremen.
He said Germany “would be a double target for blackmail” if it wanted to ease sanctions.
Baerbock argued that this would be “an invitation to all those who trample on human rights, freedoms and democracy,” because Russia has violated international law “in the most brutal way.”
Berlin will support Kyiv “for as long as necessary. And therefore, we will also maintain these sanctions and at the same time ensure that society is not divided in our country.”
MPs from the left-wing Die Linke and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) have called for an easing of sanctions as a way to ease pressure on the German economy, given its continued dependence on Russian gas.
G20 finance ministers meeting to discuss war in Ukraine
G20 finance ministers and central bank heads will meet in Bali and will discuss the economic impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called the war the “biggest challenge” for the global economy and said Russian officials had “no place” in the talks.
“We see the negative spillover effects of the war in every corner of the world, especially in light of higher energy prices and increasing food insecurity,” he said ahead of the meeting.
Yellen is expected to push for curbs on Russian oil prices as a way to limit Moscow’s access to funds and lower energy costs.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov will participate in the meeting virtually, as will Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, who was in virtual attendance and is scheduled to speak at the start of the talks.
