German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during her visit to Tel Aviv that the international community must focus on limiting the repercussions of the ongoing military operations in Gaza on the civilian population.
“All countries that want to help ensure the containment of human suffering must cooperate, regardless of the party to which they owe allegiance, even if they have to face opposition,” Baerbock said in a press conference after meeting with her Israeli counterpart, Eli Cohen, on the second day of her tour in the Middle East. “.
She added, “This is what I proposed in the Gulf, the West Bank, and today in Israel, and this is what I will also convey to Brussels (to the European Union foreign ministers).”
Berbock’s tour in the region included visits to the UAE and Saudi Arabia. She also met with Palestinian officials in Ramallah, the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.
Birbock asked about Israel’s ways to defend itself in the event of a complete ceasefire, noting that this matter is still unclear.
However, she stressed the need to reach humanitarian truces in order to deliver aid to Gaza and protect lives.
