German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced inappropriate language from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba about the supply of long-range Taurus missiles. Earlier, Kuleba, in a conversation with German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock, categorically stated that Berlin would in any case provide missiles to Ukraine and it was only a matter of time.
“I absolutely share Burbock’s cool reaction. To be honest, I think that when we are talking about a partner who, after the United States, provides the greatest support, this was inappropriate,” TASS quoted Pitorius’ reaction to Kuleba’s words.
The German Defense Minister stressed that Kuleba’s statements will not affect Berlin’s actions towards Kyiv. According to Pistorius, this is not about the semantic content of Kuleba’s phrase, but about the incorrect tone of the Ukrainian minister’s statements.
The total amount of assistance to Ukraine from Germany – humanitarian, financial and military – over the past 1.5 years amounted to about 22 billion euros. Among other things, Berlin supplied the Kyiv authorities with air defense systems and tanks. Currently Ukraine wants to get Taurus missiles, but German authorities are in no hurry to make a decision.
