Since the beginning of 2022, “740 people have come to the attention of the police” who were involved in 580 offenses, the minister said.

Most of the offenses that climate activists have been accused of involve damage to property.

Members of “The Last Generation” have repeatedly blocked roads across Germany in an effort to pressure the government to take more drastic measures to combat climate change.

Activists stuck to streets, buildings and works of art, destroyed monuments and paintings in museums.

Fezer emphasized that activists are not above the law and must not violate the rights of others.

Commenting on the “Last Generation” protest methods, the minister said that they do not help climate protection at all.
