According to the publication, secret negotiations with representatives of the defense industry continue on this issue, as Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to make technical modifications to the missiles to make it impossible for the Armed Forces to strike Russian territory that does not touch the temporarily occupied Crimea.
It is noted that the head of the German government is “very concerned” about the escalation of the war, while the office of Defense Minister Boris Pistorius turned to the Taurus manufacturer with a request to integrate the appropriate restriction into the missiles for target programming.
According to Spiegel, Scholz will not approve the delivery of missiles until he is convinced of their technical modification. It is noted that such a limitation of the system is possible, but it will take several weeks.
Sources of the publication report that if earlier the German Chancellor was ready to provide Taurus only on the condition that the United States transfer its long-range ATACMS missiles to Kyiv, then this condition no longer plays a major role.

A few months ago, one of the deputies of the Bundestag called for long-range Taurus missiles to be transferred to Ukraine to protect against the Russian invasion.
Later, information appeared in the media that Kyiv officially invited the supply of such missiles from Berlin, but the German authorities did not dare to transfer.
Recently, German journalists wrote that support for the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine is growing in the German government and parliament.
At the same time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine is not a priority for Germany, since there is allegedly no need for this.
However, yesterday the media reported that the German government would soon announce the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Berlin is currently working to resolve the issue from the US.
