Scholz said that Russia, by attacking Ukraine in 2022, has completely destroyed the mutual understanding of peace and security in Europe.
“There is a need for clarity that the borders in Europe cannot be moved by force,” said Scholz.
At the same time, the chancellor pointed out that Germany should be ready to increase aid to Ukraine “when others start to waver”.
He clearly expressed his readiness to continue providing military aid to Ukraine, stressing that Putin cannot hope for a weakening of support.
Scholz also pointed out the economic consequences of Russian imperialism for Germany and other countries. “We know there are consequences that affect us as well,” Scholz said of rising prices, particularly for energy.
At the same time, the chancellor expressed confidence that his government was able to ensure a good energy supply in the country, even though it was financially expensive.
