German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a press conference in the Estonian capital that Russian President Vladimir Putin has strengthened NATO.
This is reported today, on May 27, in news releases by the Estonian National Broadcasting Company, citing a verbatim quote from the Chancellor:
“Putin made a mistake in his calculations. He wanted to weaken NATO, but he got the opposite.”
Scholz assured the host that Germany will continue to support Ukraine politically, with weapons and humanitarian aid, this decision is unshakable.
The chancellor also sharpened the topic of restrictions against Moscow: the West should tighten sanctions against Russia and find ways to prevent them from being evaded.
