The Chancellor of Germany canceled some of his engagements because of an accident during sports. While jogging on Saturday, Scholz fell and injured his face, the German government said in a statement, as quoted by Deutsche Welle.
Because of the incident, the chancellor has canceled all his engagements on Sunday, but his program for this week will not change, a government spokesman said.
Scholz himself shared a photo of himself on X (until recently Twitter), in which he wears an eye patch and his face shows scratches.

“Expecting memes on the subject. Thank you for the well wishes, it looks worse than it really is,” he wrote.
Bild newspaper reports that the chancellor is feeling well, but the bruises on his face are severe enough that he is avoiding public appearances at the moment.
The memes on social networks were not late either. One of the best submissions shows Scholz as a pirate with a beard and a parrot on his shoulder. Another depicted the German chancellor as the target of a hunt with the caption: “Wanted – Dead or Alive”. And Angela Merkel is present in one of the collages with Scholz – her face is placed as the head of a parrot perched on her successor’s shoulder.
