German American football professional Jakob Johnson and Las Vegas Raiders miss playoffs, San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens secure top spots

Indianapolis (dpa) – German American football professional Jakob Johnson no longer has a chance of making it to the playoffs with the Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL. The Raiders lost 20:23 to the Indianapolis Colts and suffered their 9th defeat in the 16th game of the season.

Johnson was initially released in November, was most recently under contract for the Raiders’ training squad and was used again and again. This week he was called back into the active professional squad by Las Vegas.

The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens each earned a bye for the first round of the playoffs. The five-time Super Bowl champion San Francisco defeated the Washington Commanders 27:10 and thus won the main round title in the NFC. Baltimore beat the Miami Dolphins 56:19 in the top game of the AFC and can no longer be pushed out of the top position after the preliminary round.

The two conference winners only take part in the playoffs in the quarterfinals, the other six places are played in a wild card round. The 49ers and Ravens each have home advantage until the Super Bowl if they advance. The final will take place on February 12th (CET) in Las Vegas.
