Party secretary general Gerindra Ahmad Muzani spoke of a figure who is considered a companion of the president, Prabowo Subianto, as vice presidential candidate (cawapres) if running in the 2024 presidential election. Muzani also responded on the possibility for Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo to become Prabowo’s mate in 2024.
“Yes, basically everything mentioned was good people for the future of the nation. (Including Ganjar) all is good for the nation too,” Muzani said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta on Monday (21/11/ 2022). Muzani answered the question that suggested Ganjar’s name.
Muzani was then asked about a series of poll results showing eligibility Prabowo stagnant when paired with PKB Ketum Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin but increased when paired with Ganjar and Ridwan Kamil.
The deputy chairman of the MPR admitted that his party continues to monitor the results of various polls. Even so, Muzani believes victory in the presidential election will be determined by political work.
“Yes, we’ve always read the polls right to left, left to right, I read the poll. But political work will determine everything,” he said.
Regarding Ganjar’s consideration of becoming vice president PrabowoMuzani said his party is still monitoring the existing political dynamics. He said that Gerindra continued to discuss the presidential election issue with PKB as coalition partner.
“Yes, time is running out. Later we both will follow who Pak Prabowo will become president, who Pak Prabowo will cooperate with in terms of choosing the vice president,” he said.
“Just to note that Gerindra and PKB have now committed to a 2024 political cooperation agreement which was declared on 13 August 2022, so this coalition agreement is binding for each other,” he added.
According to Muzani, the most powerful figure who can accompany Prabowo is Cak Imin. However, Muzani stressed that the question of determining the presidential and cawapres candidates has been entrusted to Prabowo and Cak Imin as chairmen of the two political parties.
“Look, this is the Gerindra and PKB coalition, I have repeatedly stated in this place that the most likely to accompany Pak Prabowo is actually Pak Muhaimin. As Pak Muhaimin is the general chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) who is sovereign over himself “, She said.
