Party Gerindra also supports the discourse of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR), which he formed with PKB, joined United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) made by Golkar, PAN, and PPP. Gerindra Daily Chairperson Dasco again passed a decision regarding this discourse to the parties in KIB.
“Look, about joining KIB and the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition, yes, of course if it happens we’ll be happy. If in our coalition the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition, PKB and Gerindra would certainly agree,” Dasco told reporters, Friday (10/2/ 2023).
Dasco said that this discourse could materialize if all the parties in KIB agreed, not only Golkar. Dasco confirmed that if the three political parties in KIB agreed with this plan, Gerindra and PKB would not have any objections.
“So now what’s left in KIB is only Golkar or both, if KIB means three parties. So I can’t answer that later, how will it be, that’s how it is. So if for example the three parties KIB agree, yes we will of course I agree,” said the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Regarding determining the presidential and vice presidential candidates if the two coalitions join forces, Dasco said that his party would discuss it first. He stressed that this would mainly be discussed by the two chairmen at the KKIR, namely the chairman of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto and the chairman of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin.
“(Regarding the determination of) presidential and vice-presidential candidates, the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition, or PKB-Gerindra, was discussed by Pak Prabowo and Pak Muhaimin,” he said.
However, if later these coalitions merge, Dasco said the two parties would definitely discuss the mechanism for determining the presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“So, of course, before forming a coalition, we will discuss what the mechanism is. If that were true, we would certainly welcome it,” he said.
Cak Imin-Airlangga Talk about KIB Opportunities to Join KKIR
Previously, Cak Imin and Airlangga talked about the opportunities for KIB and KKIR to join. Both of them compactly agree if the two coalitions join.
Initially, Airlangga was asked about the initiation or invitation to join the coalition. Airlangga revealed that the answer was that the two of them invited them to join.
“Both of them invite (to join). So if both of them join, the stronger, the better. In politics there is nothing that cannot be discussed,” Airlangga said during a press conference at Istora Senayan, Friday (10/2).
Cak Imin was then asked about the response if KIB and KKIR were together. Cak Imin said that the more coalition ranks, the more effective the election process will be.
“Oh, very good. The more coalition ranks, the more effective the election process, the better the election process,” said Cak Imin.
