Geriatric Oncology: Individualized Approaches for Treating Elderly Cancer Patients

Description

Oncological treatments are often developed for relatively young and vital patients. The treatment of older and vulnerable patients is therefore often a challenge. Due to the rapid aging of the population, we are seeing a sharp increase in older patients with cancer. Due to the large differences in vitality, optimal treatment of the elderly requires an individualized approach. In collaboration with Boerhaave further training, a Blended course in Geriatric Oncology has been developed by the LUMC.

If you are an oncologist, (oncological) surgeon, gynecologist, geriatric internist/clinical geriatrician or nurse specialist involved in oncological care for the elderly, then receive further training on this subject during our blended Geriatric Oncology course.

In this course we discuss in detail the assessment and treatment of older patients with cancer and specific tumor types that are common in this group.

You can immediately apply the teaching material from the course, which consists of a preparatory e-learning and an on-campus course day, in practice.
