GERD failed! The vote on the new loan is postponed! – 2024-09-11 04:27:15

/ world today news/ Debates and voting on the new loan worth BGN 16 billion are postponed. Such a decision was taken by the majority in the National Assembly at the beginning of today’s working day, which was supposed to start with this point.

The proposal to postpone the debates came from the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Patriotic Front, Valeri Simeonov, who argued that such an important decision needs more time for clarification.

This idea was supported by 115 people’s representatives, 59 voted “against” and 2 abstained.

All MPs from the governing quadruple coalition of GERB, RB, PF and ABV voted for the postponement of the debates and the vote on the new loan. BSP, DPS, one MP from BDC and one independent MP voted against. “Ataka” left the hall and did not participate in the vote, and the remaining 8 deputies from the BDC also supported the postponement of the debates.

There is an ugly fight, buying and selling of whole groups, said before the vote Georgi Kadiev, who declared against postponing the debates. Kadiev turned to Valeri Simeonov and stated that when the Minister of Finance gave them 15 minutes of time for BGN 16 billion, they should stand against him and not support his proposal. “Let’s continue the debates, vote against and if we have to go to elections – let’s go. Better that way than billions in debt for our children,” said Georgi Kadiev.

Despite this call, the majority accepted the proposal to postpone the debates, and Yordan Tsonev from the DPS asked for a re-vote on the grounds that there was no need for more time, since even though the DPS did not have a meeting with the finance minister, they managed to form a position. “A politician, in addition to talking nonsense, should also read,” concluded Tsonev, addressing Simeonov. Even after the re-vote, the adjournment motion was carried.
