Comprehensive reform of social assistance, more precise targeting of social programs, increase in the amount of some benefits, consolidation of social assistance packages and introduction of new types.

This is set in the program under a new management mandate. Among the priorities are the introduction of more technologies in education and the digital transformation of the labor market, investments in the modernization of schools, and will build STEM classrooms for training in mathematics, computer science and natural sciences.

This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy and leader of the GERB-UDF list in Dobrich region Denitsa Sacheva at an online meeting with representatives of social institutions in Sliven.

“The profession of social worker is the profession of the future. A strategy for human resources development is currently being developed to ensure appropriate remuneration and investment through education and training and career development, as well as modernization of the workforce and work processes by providing teams with specialized skills, “Sacheva added.

She added that a Code of Social Support will be created to ensure the efficient spending of public funds and to limit the risks of social exclusion of vulnerable groups.

The reform of social services for long-term care will continue – construction and equipment of new social and integrated health and social services for residential care and accompanying specialized and consultative social services for people with disabilities.

Services will be created for people unable to self-care, who are on the waiting list for accommodation in nursing homes, as well as an accessible environment for people with disabilities by providing high-quality technical aids.

The program for a new mandate of GERB guarantees that the minimum salary at the end of the mandate will be at least EUR 500 (BGN 1,000) and the average at least EUR 1,000 (BGN 2,000). The pensions of over 2 million pensioners will be updated annually.

About 25,000 parents will be helped to return to work by expanding babysitting and children’s workplace programs. Opportunities for flexible working hours and the combination of professional and personal life will be regulated in a completely new Labor Code and the Employment Promotion Act.

Minister Sacheva also said that an Ordinance on the planning of social services will be adopted at a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

“The provision of social services in the country is increasing every year and it is with the Ordinance that a National Map of Social Services will be made. In this way, the state is committed to creating a full network of social services throughout the country in the long run. National planning is especially important, as it will be the basis for determining the package of social services at the municipal and district level, for which funding from the state budget should be provided, “explained Minister Sacheva.

During the meeting were discussed the possibilities for increasing the capacity of the social centers and the services provided by them, the measures for limiting KOVID – 19 and the vaccination of the users of social services.

For her part, the deputy mayor for social activities in Sliven municipality Pepa Chilikova said that the municipality has a well-developed network for social services.

In Sliven, the building of the “Social Patronage” will be renovated, social institutions for children and people with disabilities and the homeless will be built and renovated, as well as the visitor center of the Regional Directorate of Social Assistance will be relocated to a place accessible to people with disabilities. Chilikova added that since the beginning of the epidemic situation, all social institutions in the municipality have been provided with protective equipment – masks, gloves and disinfectants.

The participants in the discussion expressed confidence that the upgrading of good practices and policies in the field of social activities will continue, both for the users of various services and for employees.
