GERB wins the early vote – Pogled Info – 2024-08-30 14:07:26

/ world today news/ GERB won the early parliamentary elections for the 44th National Assembly with a lead of almost 4% over its main opponent “BSP for Bulgaria”.

The main intrigue, apart from the close results between the two leading political forces, remains whether five or six parties will enter the future parliament, as the Reform Bloc is still on the edge.

Data from exit poles

According to Gallup’s exit poll data: GERD received 32.8%; BSP – 28.4%; United Patriots – 8.8%; DPS 7.8%; WILL – 4.6%. Below the barrier of 4% at 7:00 p.m. are the Reform Block – 3.8%; Yes, Bulgaria – 3.6%; New Republic – 3.0%; DOST – 2.8%; ABV – Movement 21 – 2.6%; Others – 1.8%.

According to the data from the exit poll of “Alpha Research”: GERB receives 32.2%, BSP – 28%, DPS – 9.7%, United Patriots – 9.5%, WILL – 5.1%, Reform Bloc – 4%. Outside the parliament remain: Yes, Bulgaria receives 2.9%, DOST – 2.7%, New Republic – 2.6%, ABV – Movement 21 – 2.4%.

According to Market Links exit poll data: GERB gets 31.82%, BSP – 28.95%, United Patriots – 8.49%, DPS – 7.72%, VOLIA – 4.89%, Reformist Bloc – 4.19% Left out of parliament: Yes, Bulgaria gets – 3.49%, and DOST – 2.75%.

For Borisov, GERB should be the leading party in government

“We had a worthy opponent for a long time. I congratulate the BSP and Cornelia Ninova for the serious and manly battle. Honor and respect to all the voters of the other parties,” said GERB leader Boyko Borisov.

“The result at this point is definitive. Democracy is most important to us. The best thing about democracy is that the will of the majority rules the country. For this reason, we resigned and counted ourselves. The current result reconfirmed that GERB should be the leading party in government. I hope that a government will be formed quickly that will respond to the demands of the people. The election results show that GERB should form a government. Such is the will of the people. We will form a government taking into account all the mistakes and compromises we have made,” he said.

BSP will not make a big coalition with GERB

BSP leader Kornelia Ninova congratulated GERB on the victory, but said she would wait for the final results before the Socialists announced their position. However, BSP are aware that they will not form a coalition with GERB if they are invited to talks by Boyko Borisov.

“We confirm the result of President Rumen Radev from the first round, when the party vote is counted. We will wait for the final results, but we have decided on a few basic things. BSP will not participate in a coalition with GERB. There are fundamental things – we are different, we want different programs and fundamental differences. A large coalition is not possible,” said Cornelia Ninova categorically. “If they do not form a cabinet and we are given the opportunity, we will try to form a government,” she added.

Mareshki sees a coalition on the right

We will support a management program with a clear request to crush the cartel in fuels and support for 2-3 more things from our program such as helping young families for a first home. This was said by the leader of the WILL party Veselin Mareshki.

Anyway, let’s see what the situation is with the others. I am a logical person, if I look at who is first, who else is in the parliament, it is normal for there to be a coalition between GERB, patriots and RB, if they enter, I see a coalition on the right. We saw that the previous mandate had a coalition of BSP, DPS and Ataka, so apparently there is not much morale there. We are now entering and we want to stay clean, said the leader of WILL.

The disappointment of the patriots

We expected a higher result. The truth is, I’m disappointed. We did not block the border to improve our rating, said Valeri Simeonov.

Let’s see what the final result will be and what the negotiations with the parties will be, he said when asked about a future coalition. We’re pretty boring and predictable. It will be the same as it happened two years ago – we will ask for a program with which we will ensure that the conditions of our program are met as much as possible, Simeonov also said. He added that he is still of the opinion that these early parliamentary elections were unnecessary and addressed a question to the GERB leader: Why was this necessary, Mr. Borisov?

International response

The world’s leading agencies France Press and TASS inform about the results of the elections in our country. They report that the party of former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov ranked first, ahead of the BSP.

AFP notes that Borissov will have to ally with the nationalist United Patriots parties, with whom he has said he is ready to govern. The agency stressed that tensions with Ankara and the weight of Russian influence dominated the campaign, although widespread corruption and low living standards worried voters in the EU’s poorest country.

Voter turnout

Voter turnout at 5:00 p.m. was 42.74%, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced. The highest activity at this hour is in the Sofia region, and the lowest in Kardzhali, where it is just over 30%. As of 5:00 p.m., 2,910,601 people had voted. Despite the great intrigue that persisted until the very end, election day passed peacefully and there were no major violations. The CEC received 67 reports of violations.

These are the third early parliamentary elections since 2013. In the last parliamentary elections on October 5, 2014, which were also early, a record number of political forces entered the parliament – 8. The new 44th parliament will also be diverse, but with fewer political formations in it.

In these elections, a total of 11 parties and 9 coalitions competed for the votes of the Bulgarian citizens.

Voting is mandatory, but there is no penalty for not voting. For the second time in parliamentary elections, you can vote with preference, i.e. to rearrange candidate-deputy lists, but their leaders practically cannot be displaced.

The total number of registered voters in this election is 6,810,336.

The total number of ballots that were printed and delivered for voting in the country was 7,508,700, and for abroad it was 363,600 ballots. There are 12,294 constituencies, with an additional 184 movable constituencies and 254 temporary constituencies. A total of 14,000 employees from the Ministry of the Interior were directly engaged to guard the elections.
