GERB to Review Behavior in Negotiations with PP-DB After Tape Release by Radostin Vassilev

GERB has signaled that it is about to review its behavior in the negotiations with “Continuing the change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) after the tape distributed by Radostin Vassilev.

On Saturday, the speaker of the parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov (GERB), said that Maria Gabriel should be the prime minister of the eventual cabinet with the second term, and not as agreed between the two parties, Academician Nikolay Denkov.

“Trust in the process of negotiations to form an expert and not a political cabinet has been broken. I have not spoken to Maria Gabriel, but I believe she is very offended and has lost trust. In order to restore her credibility, she must go get the cabinet formation folder with the mandate of “Continuing the Change”. Zhelyazkov told bTV.

The chairwoman of the GERB parliamentary group, Desislava Atanasova, commented succinctly on Facebook “The only thing I will tell them is: ‘the door is over there.’

The reaction of GERB comes after Radostin Vassilev distributed a recording of a meeting of the national council of “We continue the change”, in which Borisov’s “laundering” is discussed, “synchronization of the names (of the heads of services, b.r.) with the embassies”. and other.

The leader of the party, Boyko Borisov, commented a day ago that the recordings will not affect him in the vote to form a cabinet and pointed out that they serve different interests that do not want Bulgaria to stabilize.

A few hours later, it became clear that his party would try to take a new position in the negotiations with PP-DB.

“The important thing right now is to make sober decisions”, also commented the Speaker of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Zhelyazkov specified that he did not listen to the entire recording, but read the headlines in the media related to it.

The topic is expected to be discussed at a meeting of the Executive Commission of GERB.

It is a rhetorical question whether the withdrawal of this record at this moment does not undermine the process of forming the government with the second mandate, said the Speaker of the National Assembly.

He refused to comment on Desislava Atanasova’s Facebook post.

GERB and PP-DB reached an agreement on a cabinet with a rotating prime minister for at least 18 months. According to the previous plan, academician Nikolay Denkov was to be prime minister first, and then Maria Gabriel.
