GERB Leader Calls for Zero Migration and Budget Allocation for Culture: Latest News

The Austrians want us to go back 3 years – as it was under Boyko Borisov – with zero migration, then there will be no problem for Schengen. This is what the GERB leader commented to journalists at the opening of a new kindergarten in Rakovski.

“What you considered to be easy to implement did not cost you work and diplomacy, it did not cost you nerves, and Bulgaria had zero migration. At the moment, the Austrians are saying this – Bulgaria should go back three years – as it was under Borisov, and then there is no problem with Schengen. This is what the Austrians tell you in simple language. And they say very correctly – after the Bulgarians dismantled the border three years after Borisov and amateur interior ministers came to power, if you like, take the migrants you let come to Austria, stressed Borisov.

And he added that there is no useful move if one does not sit down to work – diplomacy, laws, the border. We just need to turn back the time before the change, the GERB leader also said.

In front of the journalists, he commented on Budget 2024, announcing that another 60 and a few million will be allocated for culture.

“We cannot allow our cultural figures, our artists to push with the police. This is an ugly thing, Borisov said on the occasion of the protest of the cultural figures demanding an increase in funds in next year’s budget.

There are many things in the budget that have troubled us. There are many things we fixed. Many things we stood for – one of them is the municipalities, noted Borisov.

According to him, concessions were made by GERB in order to obtain something that would satisfy the parties that will vote “for” the budget – GERB-SDS, PP-DB and DPS.

Asked about the protests about the money in the budget for the various sectors, Borisov answered as follows:

“We are going to pay the price bitterly for these 3 years of timelessness. Remember the zero deficits, remember the budget surpluses? Of course there will be protests, of course there will be discontent. The debt skyrocketed – we did it. Remember How many times have I told you that highways will triple in cost after 3 years of doing nothing? I warned you, we will pay the price bitterly, hard, heavily.”

Borisov stressed that he will announce what has been agreed on the budget tomorrow, but together with Kiril Petkov, Yordan Tsonev and the representatives of the other forces that will support the budget.

Regarding the dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army, the former prime minister indicated that he has a different view of history.

“There is a mayor, there is a regional governor. I, when the mausoleum was pushed, when monuments are pushed, when palaces are pushed, when cultural monuments are burned, I have a different view of history… People should have the opportunity to see the bad. Because time passes, from the younger generation now no one remembers the obscurantist State Security. What does it mean to be Lieutenant General Terziev, head of Military Counterintelligence,” commented the former prime minister and continued:

“Therefore, when there is such a monument, you can go and say – here this and this army drove the Bulgarians into Belene, into Skravena, they killed the entire aristocracy or the entire most progressive part of the Bulgarian society, including mayors”.

According to him, people, children should know whose relatives, grandparents, parents did it.

All municipalities and mayors sent their projects under clear criteria and ceiling, added Borisov. He pointed out that the amounts are allocated by name for each municipality and cannot be redirected.

Borisov also commented that he is talking to experts about the PP-DB’s proposal that public procurement in health care be done by the NHIF, and not by the Minister of Health.
