/ world today news/ The Parliament accepted the Temporary Commission proposed by the BSP LEFT BULGARIA to study the financial situation of the universal and occupational pension funds and the implementation of the regulatory framework.
The chairman of the committee is the deputy chairman of the PG of BSP LEFT BULGARIA Kornelia Ninova, eight deputies from all parliamentary groups participate in it. It was agreed that the term of the commission should be one month.
“The temporary committee on pension funds requested by the BSP LEFT BULGARIA will facilitate the work of the parliament in making strategic decisions affecting the pension reform”. This was commented from the parliamentary rostrum before the decision was taken by the MP from the left Rumen Gechev. He added that every Bulgarian citizen is interested in where his funds are, what yield they bring, what is the guarantee for the funds that have been accumulating in these funds for decades. “In connection with the necessary reforms in the pension system, I think it will be of great benefit to the parliament for the temporary committee to make a thorough analysis of the data we have, to request additional data, to meet with all interested parties, to offer the people’s representatives systematized information, alternative solutions, so as to facilitate the work of the parliament in making strategic decisions for the overall reform of the social sphere and the fate of the pension funds”, Gechev explained.
Regarding the thesis that such a committee is not needed, because the budget committee can examine the issue of pension funds, BSP LEFT BULGARIA deputy Zhelio Boychev stated that the trust in its chairman Menda Stoyanova has been violated. “There may have been arguments for this issue to be considered by a budget committee, but that was until the moment when its chairman manipulated the decision-making on the foreign debt in the amount of BGN 16 billion,” Boychev also said. He also criticized the way in which important decisions are pushed into the commission at the last minute.
