Sparta will start preparing for the new season on Monday. De Kasteelclub is the only Eredivisie club that does not yet have a trainer. “Some surprises are coming soon,” Nijkamp emphasizes in conversation with the NOS. “Not only with someone for the group, but also for the field.” Ron Jans and Fred Rutten were linked to Sparta, but both declined the job.
Nijkamp still expects Sparta to have a new trainer on Monday. “We are currently in talks with one candidate.” The td emphasizes that Sparta remains with both feet on the ground after last season’s handsome sixth place. “Basically we just want to maintain ourselves at the highest level. From there we look at what else is possible, because of course we have ambitions to finish as high as possible.”
