Gerard Joling is still not doing well, who was hospitalized last week with an initially neglected pneumonia. For that reason, he had to miss an event of De Toppers on Monday. Since then, the situation has worsened, although he himself says from his – new – sick bed.

Gerard has been in the Amstelland Hospital in Amstelveen for the past few days, but was transferred to the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
“They couldn’t do much for me in Amstelveen. That is why it was decided to transfer me. That happened this afternoon,” he says. Gerard is not completely reassured: “I am now lying in my room waiting for what is to come. These are going to be very exciting days for me. tomorrow afternoon (Thursday afternoon, ed.), I was told, they are going to put a drain in through my back. He has to get the fluid out of my lung. If that doesn’t work, I will even have to have surgery on Friday. I’m all shocked by it, it’s intense and spicy!”
However, the singer remains optimistic. Sounding short of breath, he says: “It will all be fine, I keep thinking positive but the pain is just not normal.”
It started for him with an annoying cough, which he may have underestimated at first. All in all, Gerard has pain in his lung for about two weeks. It had gotten so bad that he decided to go to the hospital. At first, there was thought to be a pulmonary embolism, but that turned out not to be the case. He says: “I got the flu ten days ago, no corona. And then there was the pneumonia. The pain is caused by the fluid behind a lung.”
