/ world today news/ The French actor Gerard Depardieu is preparing for a new film in which he will play the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
The director of the film is the famous French actress Fanny Ardan. It is about the screen adaptation of the psychological novel of the writer Jean-Daniel Baltassa “Stalin’s Couch”, released in 2013. The book describes events in 1950, just three years before Stalin’s death. The young artist Danilov goes to the Soviet leader’s secret residence in Georgia to discuss the project for a monument to the “Father of Nations”. Before his meeting with Stalin, however, he will have to undergo an examination.
The film will be produced by Franco-Portuguese company Leopardo Filmes, while Moscow-based studio Mosfilm will provide costumes and props.
When the work on the film begins, as well as when it will appear on the screens, is not announced. /AFP
