Gérard Depardieu Denies Rape Accusations by Actress Charlotte Arnould: Read His Open Letter on Le Figaro

Gérard Depardieu denies the rape of actress Charlotte Arnould, who accused him of it a few years ago. The actor tells his story in one open letter on the French newspaper’s website Le Figaro.

“I can no longer agree with what I hear, what I have been reading about myself for several months,” writes the 74-year-old Depardieu. “Never, never have I abused a woman. Hurting a woman would be like kicking my own mother in the stomach.”

Depardieu writes that Arnould had come to his home in Paris of his own free will at the time of the alleged incident. According to the actor, there was “never any coercion, nor violence, nor protest” in the incident with the now 28-year-old woman.

The Frenchman was accused of sexual assault by a female camera assistant last summer. In April it was announced that the actor has also been accused of sexual assault by thirteen other women.
