“It’s the result of a montage.” While the controversy has not weakened since the broadcast of the Complément d’investigation report on France 2, Yann Moix’s lawyer assured this Friday, December 22 on BFMTV that the images of Gérard Depardieu filmed in North Korea in 2018 were from of a “work of fiction”.
“It is important to remember that Yann Moix is the director and was sent to Korea as director of a work of fiction,” he declared on our antenna.

For more than two weeks, the 74-year-old actor has been at the heart of a political-media controversy. In a three-minute video clipGérard Depardieu, visiting North Korea with Yann Moix, multiplies misogynistic and insulting remarks while addressing women, not sparing a little girl with his obscene remarks.
According to his lawyer, Yann Moix had “as sole actor Gérard Depardieu” who had to “overplay his own role” by asking him “to be vulgar”. On Europe 1 in January 2023, the director explained that his film was a “Depardieu”: “all films with Gérard are documentaries with Gérard, even pure fiction films”.
A bailiff questioned
Denouncing the “fruit of editing” – like many defenders of the actor or even Emmanuel Macron mentioning that “the words were out of step with the images” – Me Jérémie Assous deplored that the production does not “communicate the rushes “complete. However, this Friday, the passage was “authenticated” by a bailiff, France Télévisions announced.
“There is no doubt and no ambiguity about the fact that it is indeed the young girl in the image who is targeted by Gérard Depardieu’s comments,” assured the public television group in a press release.
Mandated on Thursday to “authenticate and certify the images and comments concerned”, a “bailiff was able to view the rushes” (the raw images, without editing), indicated France Télévisions.
