“Geospatial” recommends strengthening joint Arab action

Yesterday, the work of the tenth meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management was concluded, hosted by the UAE, represented by the Federal Center for Geographic Information, and held in the capital, Abu Dhabi, from February 14 to 16.
The results and recommendations of the tenth meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management were as follows:
Firstly, the approval of the action plan submitted by the Kingdom of Morocco, which included continuing, in a catch-up manner, the study of the remaining 6 strategic paths after defining audited programming regarding the dates of their implementation, reviewing the translation of the executive guide in its second version according to the amendments of the working experts to its original version, and facilitating the exchange of experiences between Arab countries. in its pioneering experiments.
Secondly, the approval of the action plan submitted by the Republic of Tunisia for the year 2023-2024, which includes: completing the development of the fourth version of the Arab educational geospatial platform, and completing the development of security and protection mechanisms at the system, network and disposal levels.
Third: Approval of the action plan submitted by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, which includes activating the recommendations related to the completion of the unified global geodetic reference, especially those related to the sharing and exchange of geodetic data between Arab countries. And working for the Arab countries to have an effective role in the process of establishing the Global Geodetic Center of Excellence (GGCE), raising the level of awareness of the importance of geodesy and GGRF for scientific and societal applications, and working on inventorying and identifying the components of the national geodetic structure.
Fourth: Approval of the action plan from the Arab Republic of Egypt, which includes: spreading awareness about the global geospatial statistical framework GSGF for Arab countries, exchanging expertise and experiences among Arab countries regarding censuses using modern technologies, and working for greater participation of Arab countries in the United Nations Group of Experts for Statistical Data geospatial.
