Georgs Rukmanis-Počs, 1st-grade student, records “Jēriņš suitu kičarė tārī” with cellist Erna Daugavieti

Georgs Rukmanis-Počs, a 1st-grade student of the Riga Cathedral Choir School and a member of the children’s vocal group “Dzeguzīte”, in collaboration with cellist Erna Daugavieti, recorded the song “Jēriņš suitu kičarė tārī” by Raimonds Paulus and Jānis Peters.

Little Georgs Rukmanis-Pochs is becoming an increasingly well-known figure on the Latvian music scene – recently he pleased many with the video for the song “Gliemezītis”, but soon he will be a special guest at the “bet bet” Christmas concerts.

The song “Jēriņš suitu kirkės atārī” was arranged by Erna Daugaviete and produced by Rihards Bērziņš, the video was made by Armands Pauls, and the script was written and directed by George’s mother Ilze Rukmane-Poča. The clip was filmed in the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, mainly in the premises of the Usma Church.

Georg has been cooperating with Erna Daugavieta for more than a year. The cooperation started at a beautiful event in Anna’s church, where Erna performed a solo concert, and Georg watched this performance with great interest. Later, a joint idea arose that Erna could join George in the “Light Songs in Kandava” competition, performing the song “Jēriņš suitu kirkės ātārī”. This idea was also supported by Georg’s vocal teacher Kaiva Gaigala, who was a great support in preparing this special performance. After winning the competition, it was decided that the song could also be recorded and a video clip filmed for it. By the way, Georg participated in this competition again this year, again winning the “Grand Prix”, only this time in the pop genre and duets.

About the new talent. Georgs started his career as a musician at the age of three, when he joined the children’s vocal ensemble “Dzeguzīte”. Already in the first admission test, Georg showed his composing skills when, after the teacher’s question “do you know another song”, he instantly answered “yes!” and sang his own song “About the boat” on the spot… At the age of five, Georg learned to play the piano at the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School, and also started studying the guitar with Lauma Kazakas, and at the age of six he learned to play the marimba and other percussion instruments basics with teacher Virginia Laube.
