Georgian President Zurabishvili banned from visiting Ukraine

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili arrived in Brussels to support the country’s candidacy for EU membership. At the same time, the government refused to allow her to make visits to Ukraine, France and Poland.

“I wanted to visit France, Poland and possibly Ukraine, which we should thank for the accelerated process of discussing the candidacy (to join the EU – ed.), but again I was refused,” she said.

In March, Zurabishvili said she was also forced to cancel working meetings in Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Warsaw because of the government’s position.

The President believes that the resolution approved by the European Parliament and the comments of the ruling party after the adoption of the document do not allow it to effectively protect the interests of Georgia.

According to her, the government said that they had already done enough to support the country’s candidacy.
