Georgiadis’ phone call to the doctor who prescribed 18,000 drugs – “Disappeared” a rare condition –

On Wednesday 16/10 the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis presented at a press conference the cases of doctors who were found to be overprescribing.

Today the Minister of Health, in an interview with Action24, referred to the phone call he made to the doctor from Mytilini who was at the top of the list, who in August had prescribed tens of thousands of drugs of great value.

Initially, as Mr. Georgiadis mentioned, he called the cell phone owned by IDIKA and no one picked it up. Then he called the Health Center, spoke to the manager and he gave him the doctor’s home number.

The dialogue

“I don’t think she understood why I was looking for her. I told her “dear doctor, the systems we installed against fraud have brought me the first delinquent doctors and you are the first by far” said the Minister of Health.

“I see that you have written so many thousands of euros of medicine to Mr. So-and-so for August alone, so many thousands of euros of medicine to a 14-year-old lady and thousands of euros of medicine to a 12-year-old lady,” he said to the doctor. She replied that it was about her husband and children.

“We were seeing prescriptions written from 9 at night to 4 in the morning, when the Health Center was closed, from her home she would prescribe them. I said to her, “do you have a daughter on 3 different statins at 14? And he tells me, he has a very serious condition, but don’t worry it won’t happen again. I said to her, I didn’t know that I also had healing properties, that is, she has a serious condition and now that I took you she got better?”

As she clarified, this doctor had prescribed 17,000-18,000 medicines in the three AMKAs in August alone.
