In the middle of April, the afternoon surgeries will operate, said the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, speaking on the show “Weekend from 6”.
“Initially free until the €60 million from the Recovery Fund is used up. Then the model is the one who has to pay goes to an afternoon surgery, the one who doesn’t instead of waiting six months waits three and they are all winners” he said.
“With the permission that will be given, with an article in the next bill for the NHS doctors to also do private work, the ministry expects to provide an incentive and reduce barren recruitments, especially on the islands,” he noted.
“I do not argue with parents of victims”
Regarding the tragedy in Tempi and the cover-up charged by the government, Mr. Georgiadis said that he never argues with the parents of the victims.
“I never argue with parents. Parents are parents who have lost their children. Whatever you say they are right and whatever they tell you they are right. As to the first request, there is currently no political immunity.
There is no question of parliamentary immunity. In this case, parliamentary immunity refers to actions of the deputy. If what they are referring to is the law on the responsibility of ministers, if we are discussing whether or not there should be a law on the responsibility of ministers, I imagine that is what the signatories mean,” he said.
He added: “I have to tell you that I do not know of any state in the world that does not have a ministerial liability law. A law on the responsibility of ministers was created by the Greek state from the first Constitution, from Epidaurus”.
He responded to the accusations of cover-up:
“No one can accuse us of a cover-up. The speed with which the procedures are moving is absolutely unprecedented for the Greek state. It is the exact opposite of what some people think or are trying to make people think these days,” he stressed.
And he continued: “As far as SYRIZA is concerned, I was looking at this banner that they have hung in Koumoundourou, which for me is a monument of vulgarity. When you haven’t put a banner for Mati and Mandra, putting a banner for Tempi in your party, I don’t know how anyone can take it. Rather like a selective memory I would say. Unless we consider that no people died in Mati. I think that the attempt made by SYRIZA to instrumentalize Tempi is extremely vulgar. The banner in Koumoundourou is an obscenity of the indecent kind.”
