“I have told the Parliament since the day before yesterday that I see no reason to implement this measure and I do not intend to issue the ministerial decision”, pointed out the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis speaking on an ERT broadcast, referring to the legislative regulation, by which private doctors they will not have access to electronic prescribing, if they do not cover on-calls in public hospitals, in barren areas.
“There has been a trade union mobilization by the Panhellenic Medical Association and by the local associations that have asked the private freelance doctors not to prescribe, I mean in electronic prescribing” he noted, while adding that “we are talking about a very big inconvenience, a big cost” .
“So the actions of the doctors today rather than the doctors, the unionized doctors, if it were to be achieved, would mean a great deal of suffering for patients. I personally believe I will have the data, tomorrow I will announce the data from IDIKA. I will announce to the Greek people how many doctors really did not make electronic prescriptions because everything is recorded electronically.”
Mr. Georgiadis also explained: “In the bill we have a series of provisions. We give more money to the doctors to go to the islands. We give more barren areas, bigger allowances. We make the environment much more attractive. We will finally have an attendance of doctors where we didn’t have until yesterday”.
He himself appealed to the doctors not to trouble the world as a whole. While he noted: “I have come out in dozens of my speeches and say I respect doctors, I single them out, I consider them great. They were annoyed that I said – he says – in a show that our state studied jamba. For me, for Adonis Georgiadis I will say the same. The state gave me a hard time. I didn’t say that in a derogatory way.”
