The mother of the 14-year-old student who shot and killed two classmates and two teachers at a high school in Georgia, USA, on Wednesday had called the school the morning of the tragedy and told a school counselor that there was a “extremely urgentThe Washington Post reported.
OR Marcy Gray said she asked the school counselor to find her son Colt immediately, the newspaper noted.
Records of Marci Gray’s phone calls, provided to The Washington Post by a relative, show the woman had a phone conversation with someone at Apalachee High School in Winter, Georgia for 10 minutes at 9:50 a.m. local time, about half an hour before her son began the attack.
Gray declined to say why she called her son’s school, but told the newspaper Saturday that she has informed authorities investigating the tragedy about her action. He also said that he feels compassion “for the pain and suffering” that the victims and their families are going through.
A member of the high school’s administrative staff went to the room where Colt Gray was supposed to be taking math class, but the 14-year-old was not there.
At his expense Colt Grey have been charged with four murders and will be tried as an adult.
his father, Colin Grayis also charged with murder, negligent homicide and cruelty to a minor in an effort to hold accountable parents who allow their children to have access to firearms with which they launch attacks.
Prosecutors have said Colin Gray provided the gun his son used in the massacre.
In May 2023, investigators from a neighboring county had questioned father and son, after threats made online about school attacks. Colt Gray said he did not make the threats and his father stressed that his son did not have access to his hunting rifles.
The case was closed after authorities were unable to link either man to the threats.
