A mysterious monument stood in the US state of Georgia for more than 40 years. But now the stones are history: previously unknown perpetrators blew up the so-called “Guidestones”. Wild conspiracy theories are entwined around the explosion, just like the “American Stonehenge” itself.
About 180 kilometers from the city of Atlanta, on a hill in Elbert County, Georgia, stood the mysterious monument that has been a mystery since its construction in 1980. Because crude inscriptions were engraved, which gave conspiracy theorists cause for the wildest speculations. It was the modern day Ten Commandments or an Illuminati call for a new world order, some claimed. Others saw the so-called Georgia Guidestones as nothing less than an “American Stonehenge.” But that was once. Because on Wednesday, July 6, the monument was blown up by as yet unknown perpetrators and then had to be demolished for safety reasons.
