Reuters: Georgia attorney general wants to start trial against Trump on October 23

State Attorney Fana Willis wants the trial against former US President Donald Trump and his co-accused to start on 23 October, reports Reuters.

Several of the co-defendants have already turned themselves in to Fulton County. And on Thursday it is expected that Trump will also register. Then a so-called “mugshot” will be taken, which all defendants in Georgia must take. It is the first time a former president has had to take such a picture.

Afterwards, Trump is set free on a bail of 200,000 dollars.

Over 100 Trump supporters have turned up outside the prison, says NRK’s correspondent Tove Bjørgaas.

Donald Trump and the co-defendants are charged with having tried to influence popular elections in Georgia and other swing states to point out fake voters who would point to Trump as president after the 2020 election.
