The MP from BSP was taken to ISUL. He was given medical attention.

“A person from the regional administration pushed the fence deliberately and forcefully on Georgi Svilenski and now he has a cut hand,” BSP leader Kornelia Ninova told journalists in the parliament.

She called what happened absurd and unacceptable.

“Every single monument is a part of the history of Bulgaria. By destroying monuments, you destroy the history of Bulgaria,” said the BSP leader. She pointed out that they are “in favor” of preserving all the monuments, of studying history as it was.

“I am addressing GERB-SDS and PP-DB, because at the moment the regional governor is theirs, the majority in Sofia is theirs – these are the authorities that took these steps to remove a part of Bulgaria’s history: “Stop!” he urged Cornelia Ninova.

There is an increased police presence around the monument. Fences have been put up behind which it is impossible to pass. The citizens of Sofia are once again in two camps – “against” and “for” its dismantling. Here’s what some of them had to say:

SDVR announced that it has taken preventive actions to secure the area around the Monument to the Soviet Army around the clock, including workers and construction machinery. The actions were taken in fulfillment of a letter from the regional governor of Sofia-city.

A perimeter has been established and checkpoints have been built on the avenues leading to the monument. The police appeal to citizens to avoid the perimeter.
