Not one, but two stars will rise on the Famous Walk of Fame on the eve of International Theater Day.
The legends of Bulgarian cinema and theater – Georgi Kaloyanchev and Stoyanka Mutafova, will unveil the stars with their names on March 26 (Thursday), at 2 p.m. in front of the Arena Mladost cinema. Kalata and Stoyanka, as everyone calls them, are the first Bulgarian actors that the eight-member jury honored with this distinction. The life and professional path of Stoyanka Mutafova is impressive. She is one of the most erudite Bulgarian actresses. After graduating from classical philology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the State Theater School, he also received education abroad – at the theater department of the Prague Conservatory. For some time he was a staff member of the National Theater, and then he helped to found the Satirical Theater. Her fans remember her with unique roles in the cinema as well, such as “Rhapsody in White”, “Warm”, “Specialist in Everything” and many others. And these days, she continues her work on the theater stage. Georgi Kaloyanchev is not only a brilliant actor, he is an “acting dinosaur” (as the writer Georgi Danailov calls him) and an “artistic monster” (according to Mladen Kiselov). Kalata is one of the founders of the Satirical Theater, together with Stoyanka Mutafova. However, his career began at the National Theater, where he performed immediately after completing his theater education. In 1951, he shot his first film – “Morning over the Motherland”. A series of unforgettable images followed in films such as “Specialist in everything”, the Italian production “Galileo Galilei”, “Aesop”, “Good luck, inspector” and so more than 50 feature films and more than 50 years on the theater stage. At the heart of the idea to gather in one place the names of people who have made our country famous around the world and of whom we are all proud, is The Famous Grouse Scotch Whisky. The beginning was made in October 2005. Until now, Dimitar Berbatov, Lili Ivanova, Vasko Vasilev, Valya Balkanska, Teodosii Spasov, Vezhdi Rashidov, Maleevi sisters, Ivo Papazov – Ibryama and others have their stars. Applications are made by a jury, which includes respected Bulgarians from various fields who have proven their professionalism and erudition.
