“Although Bulgaria has an official candidacy for the post of UN Secretary General in the person of Irina Bokova, Kristalina Georgieva continues to try to overturn the decision and get the nomination. Georgieva’s campaign continues with full force.” This is what journalist Georgi Gotev says in a special interview for “Voices”. According to him, yesterday, June 9, Georgieva was at the Bilderberg meeting in Dresden, where the former head of the Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, tried to position her as Ban Ki-moon’s successor. “Georgieva is not at all interested in the post of president of Bulgaria,” commented Gotev.
– In a conversation with you some time ago, it was mentioned that Kristalina Georgieva is spending billions of Euros of European money to make her PR campaign for the head of the UN. Since the official candidate of our country is Irina Bokova, do you have any information that this campaign continues or that Georgieva is aiming for the position of president of Bulgaria?
-Although Bulgaria has an official candidacy for the post of UN Secretary General in the person of Irina Bokova, Kristalina Georgieva continues her attempts to overturn the decision and get the nomination. Georgieva’s campaign continues in full force. Yesterday (June 9), Georgieva was at the Bilderberg meeting in Dresden, where former head of the Commission Jose Manuel Barroso tried to position her as Ban Ki-moon’s successor. Georgieva is not at all interested in the post of President of Bulgaria.
– The “card” of Georgieva as an agent of the DS has been commented on a lot, personally the chairman of the Dossier Commission undertook to study this matter. After all, does the Bulgarian European Commissioner have a “card”?
– This “card” currently exists as a replica of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, who told various audiences that he could not nominate Georgieva “because she has a card”. Whether it really exists is anyone’s guess.
In the letter that the Chairman of the Dossier Commission, Evtim Kostadinov, wrote to me in response to my questions, he explains that his office requested information from the secret services on the affiliation of the international employees of Bulgaria to the former services of the DS, but until the moment when I received the letter, it was April 20, all the lists were not received, and Georgieva’s name did not appear in the available ones.
I think that Prime Minister Boyko Borisov is perfectly informed. The day after the conversation he had with Georgieva to inform her of his decision to nominate Bokova (February 8), Georgieva requested that she be checked for belonging to the former State Security. Why? The reason is that Borisov told Georgieva that he cannot nominate her because she has a “card”.
– In your post on the site EurActiv you disclose that there is a legal possibility for a third party to nominate Georgieva for UN Secretary General. Explain in more detail how things stand in this aspect.
– There is no such precedent, but it would not be illegal if a third party nominated Georgieva. The name of Albania is mentioned. However, I do not see how Russia will support an Albanian candidate. I have been to Tirana, there the American flag is seen more often than the Albanian one.
– If Georgieva is nominated, would the USA support her?
– I have information that the US government does not want Kristalina Georgieva. A British private firm hired by the US government is investigating Georgieva’s past.
They have contacted me, I have had phone calls, exchanged emails where this has been clearly stated and written by them. They were also in contact with other people in Bulgaria. I don’t think I have been useful to this company. I told them that what I know, I write in my articles, and that I do not sell information to private spy companies.
– You imply that the former Portuguese MEP Mario David is charged with the mission of lobbying for Kristalina Georgieva. What is the truth and what is behind it?
– Both Mario David and Barroso are Portuguese. I’m sure they are playing a double game. Their goal is to eliminate the strongest candidate, that of Bokova, in order to clear the ground for his compatriot Antonio Guterres.
– From your publication it is clear that supporters of Georgieva in Sofia, who are close to George Soros’s “Open Society” foundation, are putting pressure on Borisov to withdraw Bokova’s candidacy. Is such a move possible by Borisov?
– I deeply believe in the intuition of Borisov, who did not give in to pressure and when Austria asked Bulgaria to withdraw Bokova’s candidacy for the head of UNESCO, in favor of Benita Ferrero-Waldner, who was then a much better known name, as a former European Commissioner . Borisov then told the Austrians to mind their own business. Hats off to him for that.
Borisov, in my opinion, understands very well what it is about. In the EPP there is a shrill neoconservative stratum that annoys him a lot, but the prime minister understands that the EPP will not elect the Secretary General of the United Nations. Neither the Bilderbergs nor Soros.
Can you imagine how China and Russia, let me mention only these two permanent members of the Security Council, would react to a Bilderberg candidate?
Borisov is perfectly aware that the strong candidate is Bokova. He will bear some pressure from Soros people, they will not scare him.
– What is ultimately the goal of the complex intrigues surrounding Kristalina Georgieva’s participation in the UN race – it seems that she hardly has a chance of reaching the high post?
– I have already explained what the two Portuguese are aiming for. Kristalina Georgieva has no chance. The question then is, what are Soros’ people, the squeamish neoconservative stratum in the EPP, the Bilderbergs, aiming for?
They aim to spoil Bokova’s chance. They don’t want a Bulgarian woman at the head of the UN. But they won’t get the game.
