George Russell is not concerned about future after Toto Wolff’s promise

George Russell makes himself despite the uncertainty surrounding his Williamsseat next year, no worries about its place on the grid. Mercedes-toto Wolff says he has promised him that he will just be there.

The Williams team was not part of the Silly Season for a long time. After all, both George Russell and Nicholas Latifi are fixed until the 2021 season. However, the musical chairs currently underway in the driver market may have put one of those contracts in question. Sergio Perez will leave after this season Racing Point. Besides the fact that the Mexican has a lot of experience, he also brings a large bag of Mexican pesos through his sponsors. This makes him seem like an attractive option for ailing Williams.

Rumor has it that Williams wants to put him next to Nicholas Latifi. Statistically, Russell is the better driver par excellence, but Latifi also brings in a lot of money. Team boss Simon Roberts recently added fuel to the fire when he refused to confirm the Williams line-up of 2021 – despite the contracts – during the press conference in Portugal. There does seem to be something going on because of this. However, Russell has now shown to be a great talent, so it would come as a surprise if he was left without a seat.

Russell himself isn’t too concerned, though. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff (Russell is a Mercedes junior) has promised him that everything will be fine: “He said, ‘Listen, I’m behind you. You’re just on the grid next year, so don’t worry,’ Russell tells opposite RaceFans. “I think there will be 100 percent clarity from the team before the end of next week.” Russell has also spoken with Williams’s new owners, Dorilton Capital. “They said everything will be fine.”
