At the same time, pay tribute to Fromsoftware’s determination.

At present, not many games through the ages have a higher average rating than Elden Ring (97 out of 100 for the PS5 version on Metacritic). Sales also seem to go like the train, so make the claim that Elden Ring is one “megasuccé” is not to stick out the chin too much.
The concept “megasuccé” (or “landmark megahit”) is revealed by none other than George RR Martin. The fantasy writer is hardly objective as he built up the world in the game, but in his latest blog posts he writes a few lines about the Fromsoftware-developed game. However, he does not take the credit, but instead chooses to highlight the developer studio, with Hidetaka Miyazaki at the helm.
Of course, almost all the credit should go to Hidetaka Miyazaki and his astonishing team of games designers who have been laboring on this game for half a decade or more, determined to create the best videogame ever. I am honored to have met them and worked with them, and to have have played a part, however small, in creating this fantastic world and making Elden Ring the landmark megahit that it is.

It remains to be seen if there will be more games for Martin, or if he will finally get his thumbs out and complete the penultimate book in his Saga of Ice and Fire epic. It would undeniably be on time.
